Keziban Kibar
Aidiyetsiz
Kibar explores the solitude of modern individuals and their existential struggles through themes such as identity confusion, selfhood, and belonging, adopting a perspective that is both dreamlike and grounded in reality. She achieves this by bringing together works that convey similar messages but through different aesthetics, imbuing each piece with a distinct sense of self. Drawing on humanity’s detachment from nature through technology and its entrapment within an emotionless capitalist industrial mechanism, she suggests—through the female figure—that the first thing women must do is to rediscover their inner, natural voice. The recurring use of deformed female figures across her works presents a different mode of storytelling in each piece. Technology, meanwhile, is subtly and delicately portrayed from an antagonistic perspective, never overtly dominant yet critically present.
